Went to an Assisted Living facility yesterday to apply to be assistant managers there (they have 7 patrons, they're Dementia patients). The interview went pretty well, but my favorite part was talking to the old guys.
The talkative one was very deaf and changed the subject every time I asked how old he is (which someone told me to do), "Well anyway..." and then he would talk about something else. There was another one who glared at the current assistant manager every time he stopped him and asked where he was going (as he headed for the door), and finally declared, "Home!" I later saw him sneaking, one slow, clever step at a time, toward the door again... in a wheelchair. He used his feet to move the wheelchair. Incredibly funny to watch.
Russian class is coming along great. Now I just have to learn what all the words mean. And how to say them.
I love my weight training class with Anton. I feel so much better now that I work out again. My pants finally fit me, I have way more energy, and I'm getting back up to a healthier weight in so I can have little baby Antons runnin' around.
Hooray, you're posting! I should work out...but I probably won't. I need to find something I enjoy doing that also requires exercise :)
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you get that job...although it's hard to imagine you restraining a man in a wheelchair who's trying to sneak out, haha.
Yeah I have to have someone else make me work out, like be in a sport or a class.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm actually stronger than the old man in the wheelchair, but I would mostly be telling other people what to do. We're in the final three (out of over 50 applicants), so that's comforting at least.
Great start- now just keep posting! Once a week is good :). Did you get the job?
ReplyDeleteNo, we got runner up. So close! They'll give it to us if the other couple can't move in August 1st. It's okay, I don't know if Anton has enough patience for that kind of job anyway.
